Hello world! A computing tradition, a rite of passage, an introduction, a declaration.

It says, “I’m here.”

It is many things, and in this era of interactive computing, of observer and observed, it’s also a greeting. I can’t think of a better way to start this site, because it is also an apt way to say “Welcome.”

In fact, it reminds me of the lines in Coriolanus:

“A hundred thousand welcomes. I could weep,

And I could laugh, I am light and heavy. Welcome!”

Incidentally, these were the very lines I wrote reminds me of an experience I had with an LLM
